about

Music is where you find it or where you make it. The band made on an industrial estate that looks as if it should be in the heart of the West Midlands...and indeed is.

They shook the dust of the road from their feet, and have lived mainly in Birmingham. Spending their time playing music, amongst themselves, sometimes with others.

It was after years of playing Indie all over the UK that the band gravitated to Country, one at a time. Then came more time, hard times too, playing all over the place. It was with Country that the band found itself, but to start with as Chips says: “...we’d heard of it but we weren’t into that kind of music and I didn’t really know what it was or that it was that famous. I didn’t think we could play with each other at all. Then we jammed together and a lot of things happened. We’ve had a great effect on each other. Country brought us into a whole new thing”.

The association with Country, fruitful though it has been, has not affected their own identity as a group. They play as and what they want to play, and it comes out so good that to even think of labels seems a waste of time. They imitate no one...and everyone. Chips sings and Doc plays lead guitar (the only one of the six born in Scotland, all of the others being English), DJ the lap steel, Bobby P the drums, Randy bass, and The Swede the rest.

About their name. They explain that it’s really self-explanatory. Settling on just the names their genres had picked for them seemed a reasonable way out.

A final comment on the band’s attitude to music, and so to their music. When asked how seriously they take it, Chips spoke for them all when he replied, “just seriously enough to satisfy us, enough so we can smile at one another when we’re through playing”.

about

Independent Country Birmingham, UK

6 cowboys from Birmingham (UK) who take Indie classics on a rollickin’ ride to Nashville and back. Floppy fringes and baggy jeans are
swapped for pedal steel guitars and four-part harmonies as the NME meets The Grand Ole Opry.
